The Bangkok Dolls Museum was established in 1957 by Khunying Thongkorn Chanthawimol, who was a renowned doll maker who trained in the Ozawa Doll School, in Tokyo, Japan.

The museum has a collection of over 400 handmade Thai dolls, created by Khunying Tongkorn Chandavimol with the help of about 20 other artisans. These dolls are exquisitely handcrafted to represent Thai Culture and have been found in the collections of Royalty and Doll Collectors around the world for more than four decades.

The museum has also been awarded numerous international awards, including the first prize at the International Folklore Dolls Competition in Krakow, Poland in 1978, and the 3rd International Folklore Dolls Biennial in Cracow, Poland.
