The DTI follows earlier organizations, including the Indonesian Boxing Commission (KTI), the Indonesian Boxing Association (ATI), the Indonesian Professional Boxing Commission (KTPI), and the Indonesian Professional Boxing Federation (FTPI). For amateurs, there is an Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina).

“I thank God Almighty, today we can declare the presence of the Indonesia Boxing Council (DTI). We are here to enliven the world of Indonesian boxing to make it even more passionate,” DTI general chair Milasari Kusumo Anggraini said in a statement released in Jakarta.

Anggraini is no stranger to Indonesian boxing circles. She was earlier the general chairperson of FTPI, but resigned in the middle of her term.

“The presence of DTI together is to foster, build, develop, and advance the achievements of Indonesian pro boxing, as well as make professional boxing one of the sports industries that can be relied upon,” she said.

For this reason, the Indonesia Boxing Council (DTI) will always try to participate in improving the quality of boxers and the quality of matches so that they become an interesting spectacle, she added. Besides, DTI will also consistently prioritize the health and safety of boxers by adhering to safety regulations.

After receiving the recommendation for the establishment of DTI from the Ministry of Youth and Sports on October 10, 2022, DTI immediately submitted an endorsement to the Minister of Law and Human Rights, and on November 22, the minister announced his decision to ratify DTI.

DTI will also seek to collaborate with various world boxing organizations such as the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, and regional organizations, such as WBC Asia, WBA Asia, WBO Aspac, and IBF, Pan Pacific, and others with the aim of placing Indonesian boxers in the ranking of the organization.

DTI will also establish good cooperation with promoters, boxers, trainers, managers, matchmakers, the government, the business world (within professional boundaries), as well as with various professional boxing organizations in Indonesia.
