Established in 2021, Oyen has now gained some recognition in the Malaysian market, where 60% of people own at least one pet (of which dogs and cats account for 54% of the total number of pets).

Oyen’s policy covers the cost of Veterinary Costs (consultation, diagnosis, surgery, prescription, treatment and testing for unexpected illness, accidents, injuries, and emergencies), Third-party Compensation Costs (legal fees, compensation and medical costs that may arise in the event the pet is damaged or injured someone else’s pet) and Farewell Cost (pet cremation, burial costs and plot, funeral expenses and columbarium).

Oyen is a licensed intermediary of PIAM, Malaysia’s General Insurance Association and the pet insurance policy is underwritten by well-known provider MSIG Insurance.

While Oyen is focused on its operations in Malaysia at the moment, the startup has plans for expansion in the near future. It hopes to have 100,000 pets insured throughout Southeast Asia by 2024.
