Bank Central Asia’s beginnings began in 1955, founded as “NV Perseroan Dagang Dan Industrie Semarang Knitting Factory” by businessman Sudono Salim (Lim Sioe Liong). BCA commenced operations on 21 February 1957 with Head Office located in Jakarta. The name of the Bank was changed to PT Bank Central Asia (BCA) in 2 September 1975.

As of December 2021, the bank’s assets are holding IDR 1.22 trillion, making it the largest private bank and the third largest in Indonesia. As of March 2022, its market capitalization has reached IDR 1,000 trillion, which is the largest number on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and the largest banking company by capitalization in Southeast Asia.

Not only that, BCA also developed into a joint stock company that owns a number of financial companies such as BCA Finance (financial company), BCA Syariah (Islamic bank), BCA Life (life insurance) and other companies. As of March 31, 2022, the company has 1,241 branch offices, 18,050 ATMs, and more than 29 million accounts spread across Indonesia.
