Organized by Indonesian businessman Peter F. Gontha, this festival was held for the first time in 2005, when approximately 125 groups and 1,405 artists performed in 146 shows. The first festival was attended by 47,500 visitors during its three-day stretch.

The festival is annually held in May and takes place over 3 days, and it is more popularly known as the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival. This is considered a festival to promote Indonesian music to the world as well as showcase the country’s love of Jazz music in a professionally curated and organized event.

A large number of performers from Australia, Japan, South America, the United States, Europe and other countries in Asia will travel to Indonesia for this three-day event. The shows usually start in the afternoon and last until midnight. In addition to Jazz music, visitors can also enjoy other music genres such as Soul, Hip-hop, Rock, Latino, ethnic as well as fusion music.
