In response to the Prime Minister’s call to apply technology to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Vingroup successfully negotiated with Breathonix Company based in Singapore, the first manufacturer of the COVID-19 breath test devices in the world, in order to bring the device to Vietnam from now until the end of August 2021.

The device uses disposable mouthpieces. The tester only needs to blow into the mouth of the disposable one-way valve connected to the breath sampler.

Exhaled breaths are collected and put into an advanced mass spectrometer for measurement. A proprietary software algorithm analyzes the biomarkers and produces results in less than a minute.

According to the manufacturers, the device uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which detects biochemical changes in the breath to detect Covid-19. The device has been licensed by the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore (HSA).

Vietnam is experiencing the 4th outbreak with the number of infections over 100 per day, with over 200 cases per day. The demand for testing increased when the epidemic hit industrial parks with many workers such as Bac Giang and Bac Ninh. The health sector is increasing testing capacity by rapidly testing the community and pooling samples. Experts say testing is key to controlling the pandemic, especially large-scale testing to screen and detect F0s lurking in the community early.
