This test included a live speed test to demonstrate the capabilities of 5G-Advanced achieving super-fast peak speeds of up to 8Gbps. 5G-Advanced, also known as 5.5G, promises to improve speed, number of connected devices, and latency by up to 10 times compared to 5G.

The Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, said that this 5.5G test illustrates the potential of the Malaysian telecommunications sector in significantly enhancing communication connectivity. He hopes that more businesses in the sector will pioneer in developing innovative technologies that help Malaysian businesses move up the value chain through next-generation commercial and industrial solutions. This will position Malaysia at the forefront of global telecommunications, he added.

With the successful testing of 5.5G technology, Malaysia not only affirms its leading position in the Southeast Asia region but also opens up new prospects for the global telecommunications industry.
