The project was the brain-child of Suzette Harris’ family. After the rig – built in Panama and used by the Petronas Oil Corporation – was decommissioned and put up for sale in Singapore, Suzette’s family purchased it for use as a fishing platform and hotel in Labuan, a popular destination for sport fishing. Today, Suzette still owns and operates the uniquely themed hotel and dive resort.

Once an old decommissioned oil rig, today, after being refurbished and repainted, it has a sapphire blue and turquoise paint and nearly blends into the blue-green Celebes Sea just ten meters below.

The rooms here have all been refurbished and equipped with air conditioning, the central lobby welcomes the refreshing sea breeze and is spacious enough to host occasional live entertainment. A hydraulic lift carries guests straight down to the surface just 10 meters below, where they can board a boat to one of three islands, Sipadan, Mabul, and Kapalai. Guests can also dive below to see the coral reefs just below the rig.

The accommodation also has wifi, a screening room, a sun deck with 360º views of the Celebes Sea, and a game room with snooker, mahjong, and table tennis. When you’re not diving, grab a boat to a nearby island to take in the local culture — previous visitors especially recommend Mabul Island.

While staying here, guests will be served world-class scuba diving facilities just a few steps from their room, enjoy satisfying luxury dishes in a variety of styles, combine local cuisine with traditional Western cuisine, and many other recreational activities besides night diving adventures.
