Cathlab – Advanced Technology in Healthcare

A cathlab, or cardiac catheterization lab, is where doctors perform cardiac interventions using special tools introduced into the body through a small tube (catheter) placed in a large artery.

The hybrid catheterization lab at the Southern Philippines Medical Center is equipped with a digital subtraction angiography (DSA) machine, specifically the Allura Xper FD20 model produced by Philips. This machine is capable of imaging the coronary arteries, cerebral arteries, and whole-body arteries.

Benefits of the Hybrid Catheterization Lab

With the integration of CT into the cathlab, doctors can have a clearer view of the structure and function of the heart and blood vessels. This allows for more accurate diagnosis, leading to appropriate treatment methods.

Moreover, the use of CT technology in the cathlab also helps reduce diagnostic and treatment time, thereby improving the quality of patient healthcare.

The launch of Southeast Asia’s first hybrid catheterization lab by the Southern Philippines Medical Center not only marks a breakthrough step in the region’s healthcare sector but also opens new opportunities for community health care. Let’s look forward to the next achievements that the Southern Philippines Medical Center will bring in the future.
