History
ST Engineering’s history traces back to Chartered Industries of Singapore, established in 1967 by the Singapore government as an independent ammunition manufacturer. Aerospace and shipbuilding-related businesses were later created and placed under the umbrella of ST. The ST group of companies began commercializing in 1990, establishing manufacturing, repair, and upgrade facilities for its first commercial aircraft frames in Singapore and the United States.
ST Engineering was formed in December 1997 through a merger of four listed companies: ST Aerospace, ST Electronics, ST Automotive, and ST Marine. Its shares debuted on the Singapore Exchange on December 8, 1997. Since then, ST Engineering has grown into one of Asia’s largest defense and engineering groups for commercial and defense organizations across various industries.
ST Engineering is a global technology, defense, and engineering conglomerate specializing in aerospace, electronics, land systems, and marine sectors. The group employs approximately 23,000 people across offices in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, serving customers in defense, government, and commercial segments in over 100 countries.
In addition to Singapore, ST Engineering has sold defense products to over 100 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Sweden, India, Thailand, and Finland.
