1. Kuang Si Falls — Laos

Also known as the Tat Kuang Si Waterfalls, this three-tiered waterfall is about 29 kilometers (18 mi) south of Luang Prabang.

The waterfalls are a favorite trip for tourists from Luang Prabang, and begin in shallow pools which lead to the main fall with a drop of 60 meters (200 ft).

The water flows into a turquoise blue pool before continuing downstream and the many cascades are an unusual feature that add to their appeal.

2. Tegenungan Waterfall — Bali, Indonesia

Located at the village of Tegenungan Kemenuh, close to Ubud and north of the Balinese capital of Denpasar.

Despite being relatively isolated the waterfall has become a popular tourist attraction as it is one of the few waterfalls in Bali that is not situated in highlands or mountainous territory.

Unlike many waterfalls there are numerous places to enjoy the view, in the approach, base and top of the falls and the pools are safe to swim the majority of the time.

3. Ban Gioc Waterfall — Vietnam and China

Ban Gioc encompasses a series of waterfalls on the Quay Son River in Trung Khanh District in Vietnam, on the border with China. During and after heavy rainfall the falls can merge into one larger set.

Surrounded by limestone karst mountains and rice fields, it is part of the UNESCO-recognized Non Nuoc Cao Bang geopark whose fossils, sediments, volcanic rocks, and karst landscapes are believed to be 500 million years old.

It is currently the 4th largest waterfall along a national border.
