ACPT is the only project in the Philippines to be awarded three certifications: LEED Platinum certification, BERDE 5-star certification, and EDGE Zero Carbon certification. EDGE, short for Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies, is the green building certification system of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.

EDGE was created to respond to the need for a measurable solution to provide the financial case for green building. According to IFC, a project that achieves EDGE standards with 20% less in energy use, 20% less in water use, and 20% less in embodied energy in materials compared to a base building can be independently certified with EDGE.

The EDGE Zero Carbon award recognizes a building that is highly energy efficient (at least 40% energy savings compared to a base building) and is fully powered from renewable sources on and/or off-site. ACPT, the multi-award-winning office building, uses 100% hydroelectric power supplied by First Gen’s Pantabangan-Masiway Hydroelectric Plant in Nueva Ecija. This makes ACPT independent of carbon-emitting coal-based energy sources.

ACPT uses high thermal performance glass, reflective paint on the roof, efficient lighting with daylight and motion sensors, energy recovery ventilation system, and Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) Cooling System to save significant energy for the building users. Arthaland also intentionally chose building materials with low embodied energy such as aluminum window frames, in-situ reinforced concrete for floor and roof slabs, medium weight hollow block for internal walls, partition for external walls, and stone and concrete finish for floors.

Water-saving measures include the installation of water-saving toilets, faucets, and urinals. A greywater recycling system has also been installed to collect, treat, and reuse water for landscaping and toilet flushing.
