Cuc Phuong National Park has a total area of ​​22,200 ha, including 11,350 ha belonging to Ninh Binh province, 5,850 ha belonging to Thanh Hoa province and 5,000 ha belonging to Hoa Binh province. This is also the first national park in Vietnam.

This national park has rich and diverse flora and fauna characterized by tropical rainforests. Currently, scientists have counted 2234 species of vascular plants and mosses, including 433 species of medicinal plants, 229 species of eatable plants, and many species recorded in the Red Book of Vietnam. The most species-rich families in the flora of Cuc Phuong national park are Euphorbiaceae, Poaceae, Fabaceae, Rubiaceae, Asteraceae, Moraceae, Lauraceae, Cyperaceae, Orchidaceae and Acanthaceae.

Cuc Phuong has 122 species of reptiles and amphibians, 66 species of fish, nearly 2000 species of insects, 135 species of mammals and 336 species of birds, especially many endemic species to Vietnam and Indochina.

Belonging to the half-covered Caste terrain, Cuc Phuong has many beautiful caves with beautiful names such as: Son Cung cave, Pho Ma Giang cave, etc. Especially, some caves still keep traces of prehistoric people, living from 7,500 years to 12,000 years ago, such as Dang cave or Moong cave

Cuc Phuong is also a tourist center, where it was voted and honored by the World Travel Awards as Asia’s Leading National Park for 3 consecutive years from 2019 to 2021.
