It’s a 3-day festival where all sorts of musical groups and communities from around Indonesia can perform any type of melody and harmony, from Traditional Angklung performances to interpretations of modern pop, all in front of an audience of fellow musicians and music aficionados. It is not inherently a competition, but performances are still graded and compared with other groups.

IOEF is open for amateur orchestras and ensemble groups who are looking for opportunities to perform at an international festival.

With the main focus in music education, IOEF does not only offer a spectacular open stage where you can share your music, but also provides valuable activities that will expand your knowledge in music; specifically in the world of orchestra and ensemble playing.

IOEF is expected to be the standard for Indonesia’s orchestra and ensemble scene, as well as to motivate young Indonesian musicians to learn and improve themselves continuously. Nowadays, the chance to perform and learn from the professionals is very limited. IOEF was born to facilitate and meet these needs.

The first IOEF, successfully held in September 2016, received more than 20 participating groups from around Indonesia and presented over 20 workshops with more than 3000 participants.

In 2019, IOEF featured 25 groups from Indonesia and abroad, 5 special shows and 4 workshops. The special show presented MPYO (Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra) which is one of the best youth orchestras in Southeast Asia under the care of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, CLARQUINET from Singapore, Gusto Saxophone Quartet from Thailand, and world-class orchestra musician Julia Zulus (Oboe) & Justas Stasevkij (Piano) specially imported by Austrian Embassy Jakarta from the city of Vienna. The entire series of festival events held for three days was closed with a concert Gala, which was the appearance of the IOEF Home Orchestra, Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra (TRUST) who had just made an achievement by winning the Gold Award at the World Orchestra Festival 2019 in Vienna, Austria in last August.
