Kuala Terengganu, the capital of Terengganu state, Malaysia, is situated at the mouth of the Terengganu River, along the South China Sea coast, covering an area of nearly 13,000 square kilometers. Among the nine royal cities in the country, Kuala Terengganu is the only one named after its state.

One of the prominent attractions in Kuala Terengganu is the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge. It is a 638-meter-long drawbridge with a width of 23 meters, inaugurated in mid-2019 at a cost of RM 248 million. This bridge is not only an impressive architectural feat but also a symbol of the city’s development and progress.

The bridge’s four towers are 15 floors high, reaching 81.2 meters, and each pair of towers is connected by a Skybridge structure—a glass-floored bridge that allows visitors to experience the sensation of “walking on air.” This also serves as a pedestrian walkway between the four towers, leading visitors to restaurants and commercial areas inside the towers.

The Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge connects the South Bank (Muara Selatan) and the North Bank (Muara Utara), reducing travel time between Sultan Mahmud Airport and Malaysia Terengganu University and Kuala Terengganu to about 15 minutes. The bridge has a clearance of 12.5 meters above sea level when raised and spans 50 meters. At night, the bridge is illuminated by numerous multicolored lights, creating a vibrant and lively scene against the dark sky.
