Volvo’s Electric Truck Lineup

Volvo Trucks has officially launched three powerful electric truck models: FH, FM, and FMX. The prime movers will be put into production first, followed by the rest of the models by the end of 2022. FH Electric and FM Electric are considered by Volvo Trucks as versatile electric trucks for local transport tasks (short distances).

Volvo Trucks also secured its first adopter in integrated logistics provider Swift Haulage Bhd.

Electric Truck Market

The global heavy-duty truck market has been segmented by payload type (10-15 tons and over 15 tons), Type (Type 5, Type 6, Type 7, and Type 8), Fuel Type (Gasoline, Diesel, Electric, and Alternative Fuels), Application Type (Construction & Mining, Freight & Logistics, and Other Applications), and Geography (North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Rest of the World).

Volvo Trucks now owns up to 6 electric truck models. However, this is still a modest number compared to the company’s plan to electrify half of its truck production (by 2030). The electric truck models FH, FM, and FMX Electric will start being produced this fall at Volvo Trucks’ carbon-neutral plant (located in Tuve, Sweden).

Volvo Trucks has proven that it not only leads in producing high-quality trucks but also pioneers in the field of electric trucks. With the launch of the first all-electric heavy-duty truck in Southeast Asia, Volvo Trucks has ushered in a new era for the truck industry, while providing an environmentally friendly solution for the world’s increasing transport needs.
