Ayam Brands is a Singaporean multi-national food company, specialising in prepared foods, including seafood, canned fish (sardines, mackerel, tuna) and canned vegetables, especially baked beans. This food brand was founded in 1890 by a Frenchman named Alfred Clouet in Singapore, which was at that time part of British Malaya.

At first, the company that Alfred Clouet founded, A. Clouet & Co, was mainly to import goods to Singapore. In 1899, Alfred Clouet decided to bring canned food here, even though it was considered an extremely luxurious item at the time. He began to import and market canned sardines to the public as well as import other canned goods. This is also considered the oldest canning company in Southeast Asia.

The logo of the brand chosen by Mr. Clouet is a rooster, and the name of the brand is derived from the company’s regular customers. They call this canned food with the chicken logo “chop ayam” (meaning “Chicken Brand”). The company’s management also decided to change the company name to Ayam Brand.

In 1954, the brand was acquired by Denis Frères (now Denis Group) and further developed. Ayam Brand’s canned foods are also available in more markets. Ayam Brand is the leading brand in products such as sardines, tuna, coconut and canned baked beans in Asian markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

To this day, Ayam Brand’s canned goods still dominate the Southeast Asian market in the countries where it is present. The company has always committed to their products being natural and of good quality.
