Inaugurated in Gresik on August 7, 1957, by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia with an installed capacity of 250,000 tons of cement per year. On July 8, 1991, Semen Gresik was listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange and the Surabaya Stock Exchange, becoming the first BUMN to go public by selling 40 million shares to the public.

On December 20, 2012, through the Company’s Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS), the company officially changed its name from PT Semen Gresik (Persero) Tbk to PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.

The company’s products include Portland Cement Type I, Portland Cement Type II, Portland Cement Type III, Portland Cement Type V, Special Blended Cement (SBC), and Portland Pozzolan Cement (PPC).

In 2018, PT Semen Indonesia acquired an 80.6% stake in PT Holcim Indonesia, the third largest cement producer in Indonesia, with four plants with an annual capacity of 14.8 million tons and 30 ready-mixed cement bases.

Of the annual capacity of 53 million tons of cement, the Semen Indonesia Group produces 38.2 million tons, while Holcim manufactures 14.8 million tons per year, both being the leaders in cement production in Southeast Asia.
