The company’s history begins in 1922, with the company being established o undertake engineering work on the Bangkok-Aranyaprathet Railway connecting Thailand to the Cambodian border for the first time. IEC took a position at the forefront of Thai engineering and technology through its cooperation with ‘Caterpillar’ the world’s number one tractor producer, introducing tractors to play an important role in national development.

IEC helped build the foundation for the country’s rapid economic development by introducing electrical appliances such as radios, televisions, refrigerators and washing machines to promote a better quality of life. The company provided public utilities such as electrical engineering systems as well as expanded its operations to vessel transportation and communications businesses, which served to boost the company’s growing reputation and success. In 1929, IEC became the sole official distributor of ‘Westinghouse’ products.

In 1965, after a period of active reconstruction after World War II, the company became one of the first Thai companies to receive the honor of ‘Royal Appointment’ from the King. By 1992, IEC was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Today the company focuses on two main business lines: Energy and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). In the energy industry, the company generates electricity from renewable energy such as solar energy, waste, biomass, biogas, etc. Meanwhile, the ICT industry provides the business of providing integrated ICT solutions and services, the design and application of hardware, software, network infrastructure including repair and maintenance systems and equipment according to the needs of customers and organizations.
